As many as 28 people were injured during the annual 4th of July event at northwest of Los Angeles after faulty fireworks bombed.

Police Commander John Parks affirmed that an accidental explosion left several injured on Thursday night at the city-run Fireworks Extravaganza in Simi Valley. The annual event, that usually draws huge crowds, ended in frenzy, as bomb squad rushed to the ground to douse the crackers.

More than two dozen people, with minor to moderate injuries, were rushed to the nearby area hospitals for medical aid, revealed Mr. Jordan Roberts, a public safety dispatcher with the Ventura County Fire Department. Those with very minor burns were treated by emergency crews  in the triage area.

"There was a big boom, everybody started running down the street, people were screaming. Everybody was just terrified. People hid in bushes," told Justice Allen, a 17-year-old boy who had come to witness the event.
