Bharatiya Janata Party leader B.S. Yeddyurappa takes a oath as Karnataka’s 23rd Chief Minister on Thursday morning after Supreme Court refused to stop B.S. Yeddyurappa swearing-in as Chief Minister even as none of the council of ministers were sworn in today.

The Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) together has moved to the court seeking a stay on swearing in late on Wednesday in a bid to stall the BJP from forming government.

The apex court made it clear that it won’t stay the swearing in but rather would subject to outcome of the petition in the court on Friday.

Vajubhai Vala, Karnataka’s Governor, on Wednesday invited BJP to form the next state government and asked Yeddyurappa to take oath as a Chief Minister of Karnataka by proving his majority in the legislative assembly in 15 days.

The BJP has won 104 seats, whereas Congress and JDS (S) won 78 and 37 seats respectively. The Congress party dramatically backed JD (S) for leadership and both parties are likely to parade their Members of Parliament before Governor Vajubhai Vala today morning.
