A deadly shooting took place at a southwest Atlanta home. Police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting, according to a report by Channel 2 Action News.

One person was found dead early Tuesday after gunshots were fired inside the home in the 2700 block of Third Street, Atlanta police told Channel 2.

The person was seemingly trying to purchase a gun, the news station reported. At some point during the transaction, there was an argument.

"A male was also inside the residence as well who indicated that a dispute did occur," Atlanta police Capt. LeAnne Browning told the news station. That man is cooperating with police, she said.

Police have not settled on a motive as the probe is ongoing.

“We want to see exactly what occurred, what the dispute was about,” Browning said. “So we’re looking at every single angle that this dispute possibly could have involved.”

Homicide detectives have been called to the scene, according to Channel 2.
