In remembrance of the victims of the mass shootings over the weekend in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, President Donald Trump has ordered that American flags at the White House and government buildings be flown at half-mast until sunset Thursday, August 8.

Apart from the White House and government offices, Trump’s order will also apply to military bases, naval vessels, embassies, and other facilities abroad.

Trump said: "Our nation mourns with those whose loved ones were murdered in the tragic shootings…and we share in the pain and suffering of all those who were injured in these two senseless attacks."

He further added, "Today’s shooting in El Paso, Texas, was not only tragic, but it was also an act of cowardice. I know that I stand with everyone in this Country to condemn today’s hateful act. There are no reasons or excuses that will ever justify killing innocent people. Melania and I send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the great people of Texas."

“....The flags at the White House will be lowered today through Thursday, August 8. Melania and I are praying for all those impacted by this unspeakable act of evil!” Trump tweeted.

On Saturday, a shooter killed 20 and injured 26 people at a Walmart in El Paso. Early Sunday morning, a gunman opened fire in an entertainment district in Dayton, killing nine people and injuring 27.
