The second wave of coronavirus calmed down in many countries and India has been reporting close to 40,000 cases on a regular basis which is clear that the second wave is yet to exhaust completely. The World Health Organization (WHO) warned that the pandemic is now in the early stages of the third wave. WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said several countries witnessed a surge in the cases because of the delta variant. He called the situation unfortunate and asked everyone to be extra cautious and follow the social distancing guidelines. He said that the delta variant is now present in more than 111 countries and it happens to be the major reason for the third wave of covid.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that the coronavirus will continue to evolve and there would be lot of transmissible variants coming in the next few years. There is a decline in the number of deaths but the new cases continued to rise. The decline in the deaths is due to the vaccination process. We are into the fourth week in which the cases have seen a rise told Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. WHO said that the delta variant is spreading on a fast note because of the increased social mobility and for ignoring the social measures. The vaccination is important against coronavirus but this alone will not stop the pandemic. There should be comprehensive risk management and everyone should be socially responsible.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus also said that there is a shocking disparity in the distribution of the coronavirus vaccines. Some of the countries have great access to vaccines and the others are left with very few vaccines.
