An Indian-origin man was shot to death by some unidentified persons in Georgia in the United States.

The deceased Praful Patel, 50, originally belonged to Ganeshpura village, some 15 km from Kadi in Mehsana district. Patel was settled in the U.S. for the past 22 years and was running a grocery store in Georgia.

Father of village sarpanch Babhuji Thakor said that Patel was shot dead on October 13 when he was preparing to go home after closing his store. Some unidentified masked gunmen shot at him from a close range, killing him on the spot.

Patel's brother, sister-in-law, and aunt Geeta Patel left for the U.S. the very next day, said Pankaj Patel his relative.
