Young Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal has finally shared his thoughts about not being selected for the ongoing Asia Cup. The 23-year-old player, who debuted for India in 2023, has quickly made a name for himself on the international cricket scene. In T20 internationals, Jaiswal has participated in 23 games and has accumulated 723 runs, which includes five fifties and one century. However, when the selectors chose the team for the continental tournament, he was not included, and neither was Shreyas Iyer. Even though he was left out, Jaiswal remained optimistic and focused on improving his skills. He mentioned that the decision rests with the selectors. "I don't think about it. The selectors are in charge, and they make choices based on the team's needs. I will do my best," Yashasvi said during an interview with Mashable India.
"When my opportunity arises, everything will come together. I just aim to keep enhancing myself and put in the effort," he continued. Jaiswal is one of the athletes who experienced hardship before achieving his success through perseverance. Reflecting on his debut for India, the left-handed batsman expressed that he always had faith in his potential for greatness. He also mentioned that his greatest ambition is to secure the ODI World Cup for Team India. It's important to note that Jaiswal was part of the team that won the T20 World Cup in 2024, though he did not play in any matches. "I always believed I would accomplish something significant. I won't give up; I’ll just continue to work hard," said Jaiswal. "Winning the World Cup for the team is my ultimate goal. The T20 World Cup victory in 2024 meant a lot to me. We received such a warm welcome when we returned to India," he added.
